For the first weekend in months I did not log on to my work computer. I was checking my Blackberry, but I had no planned tasks and no emergencies came up.

At least one has made the message even stronger:
Think Green! Please do not print this e-mail unless
absolutely necessary.
While another is less enthusiastic:
Please consider the unemployed loggers before printing this email.
A lot done today
- A good day at work.
- A long walk at lunch hour.

- A little time on a woodworking project.
- Edited and posted my notes from last night’s Irish class. Sometimes I don’t get those up until Thursday or even Friday.

I had to go to work on Sunday. That was the best part of it.
Sign of the times
Just learned of the resignation of a colleague, “effectively immediately”. I was not real close to him, but I had worked with him occasionally on several projects. AFAIK, he was generally liked and respected, and the work he was involved in, e.g., security and disaster recovery, is fundamental to our business. So my first thought on reading the announcement was:
WTF???
My second was:
That is one more vacancy between us and layoffs!
