Today mia_mcdavid, carpe_noctum_93 and I went to the wedding of a friend from colgaffneyis. Thoughts on the ceremony

The Old Guard comes through!
At colgaffneyis dance group tonight there were seven women and only two men, me and vitamin_g_prime for most of the evening. We are the two oldest active male members of colgaffneyis — long since eligible for AARP membership, We danced every dance while the women took turns sitting out. Eventually another couple turned up, increasing the Y chromosome count by 50%, but the two of us kept on dancing to the end.
A lot done today
- A good day at work.
- A long walk at lunch hour.
- colgaffneyis dance group this evening.
- A little time on a woodworking project.
- Edited and posted my notes from last night’s Irish class. Sometimes I don’t get those up until Thursday or even Friday.
Exercise and dance: Some numbers
I wore my pedometer all day today. It has several scales on it, including calories used. Figuring that Playford and similar dances are basicly walking, I recorded the numbers before and after colgaffneyis dance session this evening. The pedometer reports that my walking today expended 665 calories. 99 of those were during dance. Furthermore, though I walked over 2300 steps during dance (not just dancing, but also the general hanging around), I was not active enough for a continuous period for any of those 2300+ to count as aerobic exercise. The pedometer reports that I managed 5543 aerobic steps today over a total of 40 minutes, which must have come from walking the skyway over lunch hour.
Yes, I know: All of these figures about calories and aerobic exercise are rough approximations. However, they are all I have got, and far more than I had before.
Need a break
colgaffneyis dance guild is meeting tonight, but we are not going to be there. mia_mcdavid has a Garden Club meeting in Roseville. Without her, I think I will just stay home. In post 35-W Minneapolis the Westward trip from Roseville is still rather grim at 6:30 PM. Also, there may be heavy rain when I would return after 9 PM. I made that trip through storms three times in the last month. That is enough for now.
The fact is I really need some time at home. Sunday was busy and I have been out the last two evenings. I have not fully unpacked from the last two weekends of camping with colgaffneyis. I am looking forward to a relaxing evening, working on a couple simple projects while watching the Mythbusters blow up things on television.

This week
The week has been relatively quiet. Work has been mostly OK. I have been able to quite a bit of useful work without too many management hassles.
colgaffneyis dance on Wednesday was pleasant although rather low-key; only six people showed.
While mia_mcdavid was out today I had a lot of shop time. The shaving horse is ready now: The only things I have left to do are cosmetic.
Mia and I have been sitting in front of a fire this evening. She has been reading. I have engaged in the less traditional activities of
- Trying to fix an old computer.
- Adding software to my Nokia 770.
- Writing this post on the same Nokia.
