Today, in the traditional Church calendar, is the Feast of St. Nicholas. I might have completely forgotten about it, but
- Our Music Director at St. Mary’s focused on it for the devotions at the beginning of today’s choir workshop, and
- One of my old friends from Stanford posted about it today in her blog.

Destroyed by fire
The Mount Calvary Monastery and Retreat House.
I went to a retreat there in my Stanford days, back in the ’70’s. That weekend greatly influenced how I understand the world.
Occasionally over the decades I have thought about visiting it again. I can’t now.
