Geek goes to Church
The Psalm this morning at St. Mary’s was Psalm 17. In particular I noticed verse 3. In the translation we heard it went:
Weigh my heart, summon me by night
melt me down, you will find no impurity in me.
“Melt me down…find no impurity…” What did I think of?…. That the Psalms were written before the time of Archimedes (True, BTW).
Sunday morning
It is not often that I can be brought to tears, especially in public, but it happened this morning in Church. Nothing wrong happened–quite the contrary. The parish was observing All Saints and All Souls Day, translated from last Thursday and Friday. Our Rector preached on grief–You can hear what she said here. That got me thinking about Tom, and hence the tears.
It was not easy, but it is important to deal with these things. So on balance I do not regret missing colgaffneyis pleasant and successful expedition to Fargo. What happened here was important. It was difficult at the time, but I am glad I went through it.
Saturday–Clann Tartan and Church
The weekend
Plans Made, and other news
I made my travel arrangements for Colorado Springs–going out Thursday morning, returning Sunday afternoon (assuming no new medical crisis). No problems arranging this at the office, to my considerable relief.
Sunday
We went back to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church today. The Rector was out, but that was really OK–We got to see how the parish worked without her. Answer: Just fine. That is the way it should be. LeeAnne is a brilliant preacher and obviously well-loved in the parish, but the church needs to be able to get along when she is elsewhere.
After we got home mia_mcdavid took a nap, while I worked on some of colgaffneyis tent poles–we had several equipment failures at Perham. I did everything I could–the next step is a policy decision by Mia and the Tinker. I also made some progress on cleaning my workbench.
