The government of Illinois, an an obvious attempt to distract America from Blagojevich’s hair, has declared that Pluto is a planet.

Introducing the Make: Talk radio show
For this first show, Friday March 6, 2009, they’ll be discussing Volume 17, the Lost Knowledge issue, of MAKE. I will be the guest, along with Jake von Slatt, the cover gentleman for the issue and creator of the wonderful Wimshurst project featured in 17. We’ll be talking about steampunk, and other lost, retro, antique technologies, and whatever else springs to mind.

Name a piece of the space station
NASA’s doing something cool: they’re letting people vote on the name for Node 3 on the International Space Station. Node 3 is a connecting module, letting space dwellers go from one section of the ISS to another.
The very cool thing? The name Serenity is winning!
It was actually just above freezing in downtown Minneapolis today, and I varied my skyway walk by going outside for a few blocks (without a coat). On Nicollet Mall I saw someone casting breadcrumbs on the sidewalk for the birds, and I felt the urge to burst into song (Lyrics here).
Of course, it is all a snare and a delusion. This is Minnesota. On the way home I heard a weather forecast for 6-7 inches of snow on Thursday.
