Late last week at work was difficult, and when I got home Friday night I was in something of a funk about all I had to do. However, I settled down to what had to be done, did it (insert Powdermilk Biscuits commercial) and had a good time.
The key point was getting through colgaffneyis Newsletter. I edited it Friday night and then printed a master copy. After a good night’s sleep and a relaxing morning I got the duplication done before our visit with Tom on Saturday, about which see this post by mia_mcdavid. In the evening I was able to stuff the newsletters in the envelopes, and also had time to refinish the surface of my workbench. Nothing fancy, it is a workbench, but it does get beat up a bit.
Church on Sunday went well, and we enjoyed the newcomers’ brunch afterwards. The weather was great (for January in Minnesota) so I decided to ride my bike to the Gaeltacht Minnesota fundraiser at one of St. Paul’s Irish pubs. The bike ride was very tiring–I really am out of shape, but I made it and the event was fun. I bought a few raffle tickets when I went in. Amazingly, I won four prizes. I just wish I could have that kind of luck at work.
mia_mcdavid drove down to join me there about 4:30, We got to dance a waltz ourselves, and enjoyed the singing and dancing presentations, and the Guinness. We had a great time talking to one of my friends from Irish Class. He had seen us at one of colgaffneyis shows last year, where I had sold him one of the highland bonnets that twolodge makes. He was wearing the bonnet today, and we are trying to recruit him. We (more Mia than me) may have made some progress on that today.
