“Freshly Ground Black People”: World’s Worst Typo Leaves Publisher Reeling

An Australian publisher is reprinting 7,000 cookbooks over a recipe for pasta with “salt and freshly ground black people.”

Penguin Group Australia’s head of publishing, Bob Sessions, acknowledged the proofreader for the Pasta Bible should have picked up the error, but called it nothing more than a “silly mistake.”

The “Pasta Bible” recipe for spelt tagliatelle with sardines and prosciutto was supposed to call for black pepper.

Today is Ada Lovelace Day

In accordance with the Pledge, I would like to recognize the work of Margaret Geller . She and John Huchra discovered the Great Wall. This is one of the largest objects in the universe: Over 500 million light years long. That is 5,000 times the diameter of our entire galaxy.

Soviet Memorials on the Moon Honoring Women

Emily Lakdawalla from the Planetary Society uncovered an interesting tidbit about the Lunokhods which she generously passed on to me. After a little research, I found out more about an “extracurricular activity” the two Lunokhod rovers were commanded to do along their traverses on the lunar surface. They each created “memorials” to women on the Moon.
