A cold weekend–high temperatures not much above 0oF/-18oC.
Despite that, colgaffneyis had quite a crowd for its Night at the Pub at Merlin’s Rest. mia_mcdavid and I were delighted to see haddayr, and one of our friends from Gaeltacht Minnesota was also there. One the best Nights at the Pub in a long time.
This morning I racked (transferred to a secondary fermenter) the beer I started last weekend. It was a little trickier then usual: The spigot at the bottom of the primary fermenter got clogged up almost immediately, so I had to rig a siphon in a hurry for the transfer. That did the job, and the brew is happily bubbling away in the glass carboy. The cherries and hops are out back on the compost heap. I wonder if the local rabbits will eat the cherries. If so, we might get to see how a drunken bunny acts.
Despite the cold, after this link about woodworking, I felt inspired to go out to my unheated shop for a while, to patch some particularly beaten up parts of my workbench.
The day is winding down now. We are going to have a Birthday dinner for J this evening. I did most of the prep early this afternoon and now I should start cooking.
