Remember the fuss in April of 2006 about the Gospel of Judas? It was all over the media that this would completely reverse the traditional Christian view of Judas, saying that he was actually a hero. Even at the time cooler heads, including my own, were skeptical about its significance.
Now it seems that there was nothing to it all along. All that hype was based on a bad translation. Better scholarship shows a a very different picture. The Gospel of Judas goes beyond the traditional Christian view in the other direction, saying that Judas was a demon.
