Varied Sunday

We saw Tom again, picking him up in the morning and then taking him to church at St. Luke’s. He did a little better this time. Afterwards we went for a walk around Lake Como–we can all use the exercise, then back to our house for lunch. He was hungry, and when he was not raiding the refrigerator (we really did feed him!) he was fiddling with the VCR. Eventually I took him back to his house, which seems to be what he wanted; he was very cheery about the drive back.

Afterwards, while mia_mcdavid was at a colgaffneyis staff meeting, I attended to some tasks. I made myself a new leather coin purse. Somehow the one I had (which I made many years ago) disappeared during our Mankato trip last weekend. In fact, I made two–James may need one. I also started repairs on two of colgaffneyis wool cards. 10 minutes with a countersink and screwdriver tomorrow (after the glue sets) will finish the job.

rhymeswithghoti came back here along with Mia after the colgaffneyis staff meeting. We gave her colgaffneyis supply of black powder, which had been sitting in our basement–she is Captain, so she should be responsible for it. I restrained myself from saying “Have a blast!” as she drove off.

Afterwards I checked on my new home PC from my employer, which works just fine. The only problem was that the Team at work configured it with a modern monitor, while here at home I set it up with an ancient 15″ CRT I had lying around. So the text was really small when I booted it, but I was able to was able to find Setting/Control Panel/Display and changed it to 800×600–I told you the monitor was ancient. Actually, I have a better monitor, but I reserve it for my computers, not my employer’s.

Speaking of my systems, I also worked on configuring two of my Linux boxes. Both are working, but both could use some tweaking. I made some progress on this, although I need to look up a bunch of hardware parameters.
