News from Mankato

mia_mcdavid called this evening. Things are going OK down there. Everybody overslept this morning so they had to scramble to be ready, but they made it. Nobody has frozen to death.

Mia has no internet access. All she has is her cell phone, with an extra battery. That is not nearly enough to keep it on all the time through the long weekend. So she has it off most of the day to conserve the charge. This limits communication. It is hard for me, and I am sure it is hard for her.

Started the Day off right.

With mia_mcdavid away I have to be always in charge of James, our son with Asperger’s Syndrome. Today he went through his morning routine with a minimum of complaints and fuss, and easily managed to catch his school bus. Satisfactory. I was able to get to work in a good mood, and in plenty of time for an 8 AM meeting there.

Since Tom moved out managing James is our main household stress point, so getting him through his morning and evening tasks in a reasonable time frame gives me a small, but noticeable, sense of accomplishment.
