Zoom under Windows and Linux

I have an HP EliteDesk 705 G2 SFF desktop with an AMD PRO A4-8350B R5 processor and 8GB memory. It is a dual boot Windows 10/Ubuntu Linux. Firefox, Thunderbird, and Zoom are installed under both operating systems. My usual process for getting into a Zoom meeting is:

  1. Open an editor (VS Code, Notepad, Notepad++, …) to take notes.
  2. Start Firefox, if it is not already open.
  3. Open the email with the Zoom link and click on it to start the Zoom session from Firefox.

When doing this in Windows on this computer I quickly get messages about resources being limited and that I need to close some apps. The first time this happened I changed the Firefox session to lower the content process limit and I changed my editor from VS Code to Notepad++. I still got some messages and noticeable hiccups in my Zoom session. I could close Firefox entirely, but in many meetings I need to look things on the web or follow links supplied by other participants. I could also close email, but again, sometimes I need to read or send a message during the meeting.

This problem does not occur when using Linux on the same machine. Zoom behaves very well, and I can still use Firefox, Thunderbird, and an editor during the Zoom session without any problems. Identical hardware. The only difference is the OS. This is only one data point, and with different hardware you might not see this. However, I live with this data point.
