Saturday at home

mia_mcdavid was out much of the day, working with botanicavix and HL on colgaffneyis business. I spent almost all day at home. At one point I went out as far as the local hardware store (<1/2 mile), but that was the extent of my travels.

I watched the latest episode of the Woodwright's Shop, then repaired one of the burners on our stove, where the wires had broken. Not much to the job, except getting the right part and and getting through the layers of grease on the housing. I also made a new cover for our sump pump well. We are re-routing the pump's outflow pipe, reversing a bad decision made by the contractor who rebuilt our drain tile a couple years ago (and otherwise seems to have done a good job, i.e., the basement has not flooded).

I also repainted the uprights from my old pole lathe, which I am going to rebuild in the next few months. After that worked a new full size shaving horse. I got a lot done and it was fun (using a well tuned Bedrock plane is sweet)….I completely forgot about lunch and found myself quite exhausted at the end of the day, but was able to stay up and get dinner together while Mia took a well-deserved nap after her labors.
