Sunday — Respite weekend finished with a crash. Tom was throwing a major tantrum when I picked him up at Camp Eden Wood. Getting him to the car was difficult, and the drive back was way too exciting at times.
Monday morning — Implementation of a new software release at work, as well transferring the system to a different server, beginning at 7:30 AM.
Monday evening — Board Meeting of colgaffneyis. We finally have a treasurer who can reliably attend to business and prepare proper financial reports. A tense situation on another matter passed without the feared explosion. Also, it was mia_mcdavid‘s first meeting–she is now on staff. She is fitting in very well.
Wednesday — colgaffneyis‘s Dance Guild met at our new Wednesday location. It went well, though finding a place to park was much harder than we had been led to believe. The location (near Loring Park) reminds me of the near North side of Chicago….well, the parking is not quite that bad.
Thursday — Various bits of database work, covering for another DBA who was out. At 5 PM there was another migration of a system to a different server, which had failed twice before. This time it worked and I was able to get home for the pork chop dinner that Mia had prepared.
And now it is Friday afternoon….Another server migration is going on as I write this. I don’t have a primary responsibility for this–I am just on call in case something goes wrong.
Later (4:10) the migration worked. I will take the next bus homeward. There is a big office party downtown starting now, but I am going to skip it. Mia does not have an aide to help with Tom this afternoon. If there is trouble I want to be able to help.
Besides, I really do not want to stay downtown and drink. I would rather be at home with my family. I can have a couple beers there when I feel like it.
