Another day not as planned

Like last weekend, we have had to cancel a planned visit to Tom due to illness. This time the problem is here: mia_mcdavid woke up with the flu this morning. She went back to bed an hour ago. I called Tom’s home to cancel our visit, explaining the circumstances. The staff person on duty said that when it struck there everbody, residents and staff, got sick, cheerfully assuring me that my turn was coming soon.

I read some of the paper this morning, which included a column about one of my college classmates being elected Chairwoman of the Minneapolis School Board. Also, before going back to bed Mia pointed out the top front page story, about our senior U.S. Senator’s “political agility”. Sen. Coleman’s history reminded her of the Vicar of Bray. There is another college connection here: The version we are most familiar with is that sung by Richard Dyer-Bennet, whose brother John was a well-known and highly respected Math Prof at Carleton for many years, and whose nephew (John’s son) graduated from there back in ’76.

So I am planning on relatively quiet day. I won’t go out for any long length of time. I need to be around if Mia needs me to help her. I also have to ready in case I receive my own summons to bow down and worship the porcelain goddess.
