Depends how you look at it ….

We met Tom and some of his housemates and staff at the Minnesota Renaissance Faire this afternoon. Considered as an outing to the Fair, it was rather tense and frustrating. Considered as visiting Tom it was really rather pleasant. He had a good time, and it is always nice to see him happy.

It was also educational. In all my years of visiting the Fair I had never been to one of the comedy shows on a stage. Today, because Tom’s aide wanted to, we went to hear her favorite act.

It was a lot of very raunchy low comedy. I have absolutely no problem with this. What was a problem was the noise level–the screaming from the audience, however good natured, was way beyond what I could take. When mia_mcdavid noticed that I was crouching with my ears covered, she told me to go away. She and the others could watch Tom. I did as I was told….

The Group Home’s staff was pushing the limits of what Tom and his housemates could manage. There were a couple bathroom accidents at the end of the day. However, this was not our problem…we went home while they dealt with this. They get paid for this. We have done our time.

Tomorrow we go back to the Fair. I will have to do a couple hours work at the table of Gaeltacht Minnesota, but that should really be quite pleasant, and I should still have plenty of free time. In return for which we will be getting in free, and Mia will have no obligations at all.
