Busy Saturday

Friday evening we stayed home. While mia_mcdavid and I watched TV I stuffed and labelled the envelopes for the hard copy edition of colgaffneyis newsletter. They will get mailed out Tuesday. Then I finished a few small leather pouches. These will be useful at colgaffneyis events to keep the necessities of 21st century life well hidden.

Saturday morning I went to the new Tandy Leather in St. Paul. Much easier to get to than the other local location and operated by very nice folks. The manager is a very skilled craftman and was doing some work while I was there. I was impressed, and ended up spending more money than I had planned. Afterwords I continued north on White Bear Avenue and stopped in at the Rockler woodworking store and bought a few things there. It had been months since I had visited a woodworking store.

I then went home, where the meeting of colgaffneyis staff was just finishing (I am not on staff, so I was not playing hookey). Mia, who is on staff, was hosting the meeting, since c_nocturnum is in the middle of moving.

Afterwards Mia and I had lunch, then drove into Minneapolis to the new home of c_nocturnum and her husband. They are in the process of painting several rooms there. We did one room, replacing an ugly speckled pink by a pleasant light blue. Our effort was cut short when Mia bumped her head on the corner of a kitchen cabinet, drawing just enough blood to require a trip to the emergency room. After than it was time to go home.

c_nocturnum‘s husband, in accordance with ancient custom, had fed us with pizza and beer for our labors, so we were not in need of much dinner. While Mia wrestled with an enormous bundle of yarn I went out to the shop to excavate clean off my workbench. This went faster than I had expected, and by about 8:30 I had a clear bench. Afterwards we ate some popcorn. I was very tired and quickly went to sleep.

Sunday was also busy, and I am too tired to chronicle it now. More later….
