Last night colgaffneyis dance guild met at the new home of c_nocturnum and her husband. It was a chance to see the new house, and we had plenty of space to dance since they had not yet moved in any furniture. There was a good crowd. We had a new person present, and c_nocturnum (our dance mistress) was very careful to make sure she was taught the basics. Some of the veterans relaxed and chatted during this, but I was quite happy being in the same set as the newcomer, going through all the fundamentals, since

1. Long ago, some folk dance veterans went out of the way to make me comfortable in similar gatherings.
2. c_nocturnum is very good at this and I enjoy helping her.
3. The new person was pleasant and interesting.
4. My son James was also in the set. He has been dancing with us occasionally, and actually seems to be enjoying it.

This worked out quite well. Everybody had a good time, including James. I was really happy to be there with him.
