There are many reasons I love this event, but one that immediately comes to mind is Pigasus Books, the most interesting seller I have found at any Ren Faire anywhere. Master James, who dresses at these events like a medieval scholar, has a great selection and a ready wit, as he demonstrated when I bought a couple books yesterday:

Master James: Would you like a bag? My bags are not period-appropriate, but they do preserve the Aristotelian essence of a bag.

Glenn: I see. The substance of a bag is its shape, while the plastic is one of the accidents.

Master James: You are indeed a man of science.

I cannot imagine such a conversation at the big Minnesota Ren Fest.
