In about 1/2 hour mia_mcdavid and I will be leaving for the weekend. We will be part of colgaffneyis show at the Olde World Renaissance Faire in Twig, Minnesota (near Duluth). With careful packing we have been able to get everything we need, and a few pleasant extras, into our Ford Escort wagon. This took a little work. We have a fairly large pavilion tent (it has 18 poles), the parts of which go in first. Everything else gets stored around this or in the rooftop carrier.

We missed this show last year but had good times there the two years before. It is quieter and less commercial than the big Minnesota Ren Faire in Shakopee. While there are some fantasy elements at Twig, there is also some interest in historical accuracy, which long since vanished from Shakopee. Hence we like the event

Life is full of unexpected changes. When I was much younger I never would have thought that after turning 50 I would become (occasionally anyway) a traveling performer.
