I skipped the Office Departmental Holiday party last night. I simply did not feel I had anything to celebrate about office life and would rather be home. After dinner I went to bed quite early–about 8 PM, and did not get up until nearly 9:30 on Saturday morning.
I did some woodwork in the morning, but soon realized quite a few of my edged tools, including several of my best chisels, had noticeable surface rust. I simply immersed them in distilled vinegar for an hour or so and then wiped the rust off.
mia_mcdavid and I ran some errands, then came home. I realized that the reason those tools had rust was that they were in a rack under the window. Not only did this let some moisture in when the window was open, it also meant that they were really not convenient when I could have used them. So I made a new tool rack this afternoon that stands next to my workbench. Nothing fancy–a piece of plywood and a couple feet of 2×4’s and 2×2’s nailed together and screwed to the wall. The only bit of art was using my old Stanley miter box and handsaw to cut the braces for holding ip upright. But it will do the job.
