I am (I think) packed and ready to join colgaffneyis at the White Oak rendezvous in Deer River tomorrow night. Unfortunately, it will be tomorrow night–I have to work until 4 PM, then go home, pick up James, and head north.

Meanwhile, colgaffneyis intrepid pioneers, mia_mcdavid and rhymeswithghoti have arrived on site and have worked hard on setting up camp. One other member has also arrived, but he just left his gear and ran off, without contributing to the communal effort. Grrrr….

I have not been to a rendezvous since Big Muddy last October, and they are my favorite type of colgaffneyis event. Ren Faires are too commercial, Scottish Fairs are too synthetic, time line events (e.g. Chas. City) are too easily dominated by 20^th century machinery. I wish I could be in Deer River tonight.
