Setup for colgaffneyis camp at the Minnesota Scottish Fair went OK, although attendance was low. twolodge and rillaspins were the only members present when mia_mcdavid and I, and our son James arrived. twolodge and rillaspins had already moved a lot of stuff off the trailer and had staked down most of the trooper tents. twolodge had also set up his own tent. We helped them finish the troopers, then we all worked on putting up the tavern tent, our largest and most complicated structure. We also laid out the Cook’s Fly, but did not raise it; twolodge, who has an excellent sense for such things, was afraid it would blow down during the night. We wanted to set up the Cook’s Tent (our pantry), but found we were missing an upright. A telephone inquiry eventually revealed that we had left it behind at the garage in Minneapolis. mia_mcdavid will pick it up and bring it down today.
After a while, a few other members arrived who helped finish the Corporate tasks, including LS and her son. They were going to spend the night in camp, so twolodge helped set up a trooper for them. The other troopers will be raised this evening, by those who will be using them (help will be available for new members). With only a few of us on site last night we could not finish everything.
With the corporate stuff done for the evening Mia, James and I then put up our own tent, with help from twolodge and the others. This went well. All we have to do tonight is move in.
As often happens when the practical issues of camp life are involved, twolodge was clearly the outstanding contributor to the effort last night. He did the largest share of the work and freely shared his knowledge about how things are done. colgaffneyis owes a great deal to him.
