Hebridean/Highland armor

The Highland Cotun. This looks interesting. I might try to make one. Not sure what I would do with it–such garments were no longer in use by the time of colgaffneyis. It would be more suited for galloglas, as in the leftmost figure in in the 1521 painting by Albrecht Dürer.

The author is active in western martial arts, and describes the cotun as “the lightest and most effective amour I’ve ever come across, good for sword, rapier, longsword and quarterstaff, and well worth the effort involved in making it.” While his reconstruction is of course speculative, the fact that it is functional suggests that he is not too far off.
