We went to St. Paul’s Scottish Ramble today with colgaffneyis. Because of the stress of this past week we slept in, letting our comrades take care of the setup. This they did very well: Everything was in place when we arrived shortly after the show officially opened. It was a good time. rhymeswithghoti got us all together for an impromptu demo on the main stage when the show organizers suddenly realized they had some dead time. She did a great job, although I hope the sound system treated the audience better than it did us on stage.
Our friend MJ from Gaeltacht Minnesota came by while I was on “guard duty” (acting the part, while answering any questions the patrons had). We had a nice talk. mia_mcdavid and I have been trying to recruit him for well over half a year now.
At this event two years ago I found a collection of the works of one of the foremost Gaelic poets of the 17th century. Today, at the same bookseller, I found a collection from another prominent Gaelic poet of the same era, Mary MacLeod (Màiri Nighean Alasdair Ruaidh). Expensive, but one of those things I knew I would regret if did not get it.
After the show closed for the day mia_mcdavid and I drove to Minneapolis to see our son Tom. To our surprise, this went very well. A great way to end the afternoon.
