When I turned on my cell phone after my plane landed in Colorado Springs I found a voicemail waiting for me: My brother Raven was going to pick me up at the airport and we would immediately go to the hospital to take Mom home. A very pleasant surprise: The last I heard she would be in the cardiac unit for a couple more days, and then be in rehab for a while.
This went very smoothly and she and I are now at her house. Raven has gone home (just a couple miles away) to his family. Instead of waiting by her hospital bed I will be helping her out around here, running errands, and being her chauffeur–she is quite weak and won’t be able to drive for a while. This is a much more cheery prospect.
I had thought that my other brother, Tom, would also be here, but it turns out he will not becoming in until Sunday or Monday. Hopefully Sunday, and not too late–I am leaving that afternoon and would like to see him as well. I also expect my sister and her family will come down from Denver some time in the next couple days.
Mom is in good spirits, and is really glad to be home. Right now she is catching up on mail and phone calls, so I am using her computer.
