After getting myself settled yesterday I went out for a walk. I explored the Pike Market, which is just a few blocks away. All sorts of stores there. Not a neat modern mall–very much an old style city market. Fascinating and delightful. I then ate dinner at a nearby brewpub. The food was pretty good, and the beer was great.
For me the main event today was a seminar on SQL Server queries and tuning by Kalen Delaney, a well known guru on the subject. This was really very good, although I was distracted for a while by an ugly e-mail from the office.
After the seminar I spent over an hour on e-mail, both business and personal. With the conference providing breakfast and lunch, an evening reception then provided all the dinner I needed. And so I am back in my hotel room winding down for the night.
