More Irish (and other languages)

As always, Irish class was fun and interesting last night. The special of the evening: Irish does not have a verb “to have”. Thus, “I have a book” is “Tá leabhar agam”, which is literally “A book is at me”. Also, no indefinite article: “The book” is “an leabhar”, but “a book” is simply “leabhar”.

It seems I am not the only one in the family studying a language as an adult. My brother Raven and his wife are taking Spanish. However, the family exemplar of lifetime learning is our mother, who is learning Koinê Greek. Her 80th birthday is coming up in August.
